- We've been so happy with our two daughters attending Pumpkin Long Day Care. Our youngest only recently started at age 11 months. The educators have been wonderful in helping us through the transition. They keep in regular communication, trying to maintain our home routines and updating us with how our child is settling in. Even after just a short period we can see that she is developing strong bonds with her educators. Our eldest has recently started school, with Pumpkin's school readiness program equipping her with the literacy, numeracy and social skills to thrive in kindergarten. - My son is turning 4 years old soon and has been with Pumpkin Long Daycare centre for almost 3 years. Pumpkin Daycare has been a big instrument not only to my son's development but also to myself as a first time parent. They are very hands on with what they do as educators. - I highly recommend Pumpkins to any parent looking for a long daycare center. I have had 3 children go there (2 still current) and they have all had a positive experience. The educators take the time to get to know the students and on numerous occasions gone above and beyond to be adaptable to their needs. Having a child with high needs can very daunting but Pumpkins continuously strive to understand his disability and better ways to engage with him and involve him in all activities. All the staff are professional, friendly, adaptable and generally love being around kids all day. Cannot recommend this center enough!Mel 2024
Pumpkin Long Day Care Centre, Matraville
Pumpkin is a small, independently run long day care in the heart of Matraville, caring for children from birth to six. We're open 7:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday a full 11 hour day, built around families who actually work.
Your child grows through three rooms under one roof: our Nursery for babies up to two, our Toddler room for twos and threes, and our Preschool room, where three-to-five-year-olds follow a genuine school readiness program. One centre, one drop-off, from their first year to their first day of school.
We're rated as Meeting the National Quality Standard. Pumpkin was assessed independently, and you can check our record for yourself on the government's Starting Blocks website any time. Every educator holds a current Working With Children Check, every room stays within ratio every day, and our door is open. Come visit whenever you like, no appointment needed.
Government Funded Initiatives available at Pumpkin Long Day Care
If you're eligible for the Child Care Subsidy, the 3 Day CCS Guarantee gives your family at least three subsidised days a fortnight, regardless of your work or study hours. While 3 - 5 years old children, the NSW Government's Start Strong program helps reduce preschool costs further. Get in touch and we'll give you a clear picture of your actual costs.

Hello, I'm Miss Elly. I've spent over 17 years working with young children, and I still get the same feeling every morning when they come through our door.
Every child is different and they can tell when you really know them. Which songs they love, how they like to say goodbye at drop-off, who their best friend is this week.
A child who feels safe is a child who's ready to learn, make friends, and grow. So that's what we do at Pumpkin. We take the time to know your child properly. Their interests, their strengths, their stories. And then we build their days around who they actually are.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) can significantly reduce your cost. The 3 Day CCS Guarantee gives eligible families at least 3 subsidised days per fortnight. The Start Strong program helps reduce preschool fees further for 3–5 year olds.

Clean record
Pumpkin has had zero enforcement actions from the national regulator in the past 18 years. Compliance visits happen, and we welcome them, our most recent was February 2026. A clean record isn't something we say about ourselves; it's what the regulator's own register shows.
