Pumpkin is a small, independently run long day care in the heart of Matraville, caring for children from birth to six. We're open 7:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday a full 11 hour day, built around families who actually work.
Your child grows through three rooms under one roof: our Nursery for babies up to two, our Toddler room for twos and threes, and our Preschool room, where three-to-five-year-olds follow a genuine school readiness program. One centre, one drop-off, from their first year to their first day of school.
We're rated as Meeting the National Quality Standard. Pumpkin was assessed independently, and you can check our record for yourself on the government's Starting Blocks website any time. Every educator holds a current Working With Children Check, every room stays within ratio every day, and our door is open. Come visit whenever you like, no appointment needed.
Government Funded Initiatives available at Pumpkin Long Day Care
If you're eligible for the Child Care Subsidy, the 3 Day CCS Guarantee gives your family at least three subsidised days a fortnight, regardless of your work or study hours. Hello, I'm Miss Elly. I've spent over 17 years working with young children, and I still get the same feeling every morning when they come through our door.
Every child is different and they can tell when you really know them. Which songs they love, how they like to say goodbye at drop-off, who their best friend is this week.
A child who feels safe is a child who's ready to learn, make friends, and grow. So that's what we do at Pumpkin. We take the time to know your child properly. Their interests, their strengths, their stories. And then we build their days around who they actually are.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) can significantly reduce your cost. The 3 Day CCS Guarantee gives eligible families at least 3 subsidised days per fortnight. The Start Strong program helps reduce preschool fees further for 3–5 year olds.
